Priority #3 - New Spaces for the Arts and Music
"The new recital hall and music production studio will provide our oustanding students and faculty with access to equally excellent facilities."
- Christopher Mele '13, Department Chair, Fine Arts
A Path to Performance
The Project
A new multipurpose Recital Hall and practice space on the third floor of Sterner Hall in the location of the current wrestling room, plus a recording studio, a 16-station Music Production Lab classroom, and an additional new music classroom, all to be located on the second floor of the building, in the area now housing the weight room.
The Purpose
The Recital Hall will provide a flexible space for instrumental performances, smaller theatrical productions, music classes, rehearsals, and events, while the recording studio and Music Production Lab will provide an isolation room for professional-level recording and a separate, greatly expanded MIDI Lab for digital music production.
The Impact
Much-needed space for La Salle’s thriving instrumental music programs, currently overflowing into hallways and stairwells, as well as for the theater program and the new Music Business and Technology concentration. In each case, this space will be professionally designed and acoustically outfitted to support our students in doing exceptional work.
